Mystic CT is a town involved two towns, Groton and Stonington, that share a similar postal district yet is isolated by a drawbridge, known as the Mystic River Bascule Bridge, along the Mystic River. The primary pilgrims settled here in 1654. In spite of the fact that the Stonington side was initially called "Southerton" which was named by the Pequot Indians and meant the town east of the stream. In 1665 General Session casted a ballot to change the name "Southerton" to Mystic which is known as Old Mystic today.
